Capital City Academy 300 kWp Solar PV Installation

In April 2022 we installed a huge 300 kWp solar PV System for Capital City Academy based down in the capital. Our hard working team stayed in London for 2 weeks to get this six hundred and fifty-nine solar panel system complete. The system is estimated to produce around 263.08 MWh of energy every calendar year and save an extortionate amount of Co2 emissions, coming to just over sixty tonnes which is equivalent to near three thousand trees being planted. The Longi Solar, LR4-72HPH-455M solar panels were placed on the innovative Sflex tilt system for standing seam roof from Solen and connected to the system via the P950 optimizers. There were half the amount of optimizers as solar panels as two solar panels would connect to every one optimizer. To complete the system we installed 2 SolarEdge 100k manager inverters, which are three phase inverters which are usually used for larger projects. We also installed one single phase SolarEdge 33.3k inverter.

As you can see from the pie chart below the system will supply around 30% of the school’s current annual consumption. This will enable the school not only to save around £10,000 per year on electricity, but to generate its own electricity from the sun, not by burning polluting fossil fuels.

The Senior Director of Capital City Academy (Greg George) said “We are delighted to be making our mark in the fight against global warming.” as the system will be reducing their carbon footprint by at least 60 tonnes. He also went on to say this about our team “The installation went smoothly and the contracting team were efficient and courteous at all times.”

Brent Pure Energy was the organisation managing this project. They are a not for profit Community Benefit Society who have worked on installing solar for other schools in the London area previously and was formed by residents as a local response to the problems of Climate Change in London. Their goal is to help the local schools generate their own renewable energy and engage the community. We are also trying to help the pupils understand the importance of going green by installing a monitor to display how much energy is being generated by the system and how it will benefit the world they live in.

Nick Hartley, the secretary at Brent Pure Energy had this to say about our performance throughout the installation “The 300 kW solar panel installation at Capital City Academy was carried out by GenFit’s team under Dave Cowley with great efficiency during the Easter holidays, 2022. Under his supervision, we were allowed to inspect the work in progress and take pictures. The system was up and running in just over a week. Liaison between ourselves (Brent Pure Energy), GenFit and the Academy was always good, so we knew what was happening at every stage. The team were respectful of safeguarding requirements and minimum inconvenience was caused at CCA. We would not hesitate to recommend GenFit to other customers.”
